Steve Kallick talks to us about Canada's boreal forests, a critical wildlife habitat that holds more freshwater than any other ecosystem on Earth.

Kallick, now director of the International Boreal Conservation Campaign at Pew Environment Group, has devoted much of his life to its protection.

He explains how tar sands development, mining, logging and hydropower expansion are threatening the boreal with death from a thousand cuts, and what can be done to protect what Pew's new report calls .
